How do you rearrange the pages of a PDF when a scan came out in the wrong order or an appendix ended up at the front? Choose the file, move the pages to where they belong and save a new copy. It works in the browser on a computer, an iPhone or an Android phone, with no PDF editor and no account.

How to rearrange pages in a PDF

    Choose a PDF

    Click “Choose PDF” or drag the file onto the page. Previews of all pages appear after a moment.

    Move the pages

    “Move earlier” moves a page one place forward, “Move later” one place back. The previews show the new order straight away, and “Restore original order” undoes all moves.

    Click “Save page order”

    The pages are copied into a new document in the order you set, with their content unchanged.

    Check and download

    The tool checks the count, size and text of every page, then offers the download.

What stays the same after reordering

Page content, text, images and fonts stay exactly as they were. Only the position of the pages changes. Bookmarks, form fields and attachments belong to the whole document and are not carried over, and the tool warns you about them right after the file loads.

When page order needs fixing

The most common case is a scan where the scanner read all the front sides first and then all the backs, so the pages run 1, 3, 5, 2, 4, 6. Others are an appendix placed at the start instead of the end, or a sheet that went through the feeder in the wrong place.

If you are building one document from several files, join them first with Merge PDF files and fix the order in the result. The arrows always move a page by one place, so reordering is most comfortable in documents of up to a few dozen pages.

Page order and page numbers

Your PDF reader shows the pages in the new order and numbers them again from the start. Numbers printed in the footer do not change, because they are part of the page content. After reordering, a document with printed numbers can therefore show two different numbers for one page, which is worth keeping in mind when you print it or refer to specific pages.

The result does not carry the document title or author. If pages also need turning, use Rotate PDF afterwards, and remove pages you do not need with Delete pages from PDF.

Privacy

All processing takes place in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded to a server, and no data remains after you close the page.

FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Reordering happens in your browser and the file is not sent anywhere. The page previews are created on your device and disappear when you close the tab.

Can I also delete a page while reordering?
No, this tool only changes the order. To remove pages, use Remove pages from PDF, and to keep just a few, use Extract pages from PDF. You can combine the tools: download the result of one and open it in the other.

Can I rotate a page here too?
Not here. Rotation has its own tool, Rotate PDF, where you can turn single pages or the whole document. The order of steps does not matter: you can reorder the pages first and rotate them afterwards, or the other way round.

Will the file size change?
Usually only slightly. The tool writes only the data the pages need into the new file, so the result is about the same size or a little smaller. The result screen shows both the original and the new size, and page content and quality stay the same.

Does it work with scans?
Yes. Scanned pages are images and are copied without any loss of quality. Reordering is especially useful for scans when a sheet went through the document feeder in the wrong place, or an attachment was scanned separately and needs to move to the end.

Can I reorder a password-protected PDF?
Not while the file is encrypted. The tool rejects it, so unlock it first with Unlock PDF. After reordering the pages you can protect the finished file again with Password protect PDF.

How many pages can the tool handle?
There is no fixed limit; browser memory decides. The arrows always move a page by one position, so reordering hundreds of pages gets tedious. In that case, split the document first with Split PDF, reorder the smaller parts and join them again with Merge PDF files.

Do the page numbers in the footer change with the new order?
No. Numbers printed in the footer or header are part of the page content, so a moved page keeps its original number. Only its position in the document changes, and your PDF reader numbers the pages in sequence according to the new order.

How do I change the order of pages in a PDF?
Choose the file and use the “Move earlier” and “Move later” arrows next to the previews until the pages are in the right order. Then click “Save page order”. The tool checks the page count, dimensions and selectable text before offering the download.
