How do you extract a page from a PDF and save it as a separate file? Tick it in the preview and download the new PDF. In the same way you can pull a chapter, an invoice, a contract amendment or all signed pages out of a long document, while the original stays untouched.

How to extract pages from a PDF

    Click the checkbox on every page you need. The counter above the previews shows how many pages are selected. All other pages are left out of the result.

    Under “Output”, “One PDF” saves the selected pages together, while “Separate PDFs (ZIP)” puts each page into its own file.

    The tool checks the page count, size and text in every output file, then offers the PDF or ZIP for download.

When to choose separate files

One PDF works best when the selected pages belong together, such as a chapter, an appendix to an application or a few pages of a contract for one person. Separate files are useful when each page goes somewhere else, such as single invoices from a combined export. Files in the ZIP carry a sequence number and the original page number, for example contract-extracted-01-page-4.pdf.

Extract, split or delete pages?

All three tools work with pages, but each gives a different result. Split PDF keeps every page and divides them into parts. Delete pages from PDF drops the selected pages and keeps the rest. Extracting keeps only the selected pages, so it is the best fit when you need a few pages from a long document.

You tick pages right in the previews, so from a long scan you can pick, for example, all signed pages without looking up page numbers. Selected pages always keep the order of the original. If you need a different order, rearrange the result with Organize PDF pages.

What the new file contains

Only the fonts and images used by the selected pages go into the result, so a few pages from a long document usually take far less space than the original. Text stays selectable and copyable if it was in the original.

Numbers printed on the pages do not change, so an extracted page 4 still shows 4 in its footer. Bookmarks, form fields and the document title and author are not carried over. To add the extracted pages to another document, use Merge PDF files.

Privacy

All processing takes place in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded to a server, and no data remains after you close the page.

FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Extraction happens in your browser tab, the file is not sent anywhere, and the new file with your selected pages is created directly in your device’s memory.

Can I extract a single page or a page range?
Yes. Select one page and you get a one-page PDF. For a range, such as pages 5 to 9, tick each of those pages in its preview. You do not type page numbers, so you always see exactly what you are picking.

Is the page order kept?
Yes. Selected pages are saved in the order they appear in the original, no matter in which order you tick them. If you need a different sequence, rearrange the result afterwards with Organize PDF pages.

Will the text stay selectable?
Yes, if it was selectable in the original. Pages are copied together with their fonts and are not turned into images, so you can search and copy text in the extracted pages just as in the source document.

Does the original file change?
No. The tool only reads the original and builds a new file in browser memory, while the document on your device stays unchanged. You can repeat the extraction with a different selection as many times as you need.

Can I extract pages from a password-protected PDF?
Not while the file is encrypted, because the tool rejects it. If you know the password, remove the protection first with Unlock PDF. Restrictions that only block printing or copying can often be removed there even without a password. Then extract the pages as usual.

How many pages can I extract?
As many as you like; there is no fixed limit. Text documents with hundreds of pages usually work even on a phone, but for very large scans a computer is the better choice because of browser memory, or you can split the work into smaller parts.

One PDF or separate files in a ZIP?
Under “Output”, choose “One PDF” when the selected pages should stay together, for example as a chapter or an appendix. “Separate PDFs (ZIP)” saves each selected page as its own numbered file, which is handy when the pages go to different people.
